On Wednesday, May 3rd, students in Guitar 1 and 2 classes performed in a Rock Guitar Concert in the Lower Commons. The house was PACKED with family, friends and fans - all there to cheer on our musicians!

Tonight, the Maine West String Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Ms. Daniella Valdez performed their final concert of the 2022-2023 school year, the Masterworks Orchestra Concert.
Ms. Valdez honored the achievements of students throughout the year, especially highlighting contributions by members of the graduating senior class, with an annual awards presentation.
Congratulations to all of the orchestra students on your performance tonight!

Today, Maine West visual artists, their teachers and their families celebrated a year of achievement in the visual art program at the annual Art Awards BBQ. Students were recognized for distinguished achievement in drawing and painting, digital art, ceramics and design and photography. Students who have had works exhibited in regional art exhibits this year were also honored.
Well done, visual artists! We are so proud of your achievements this year! A big thanks to the visual arts teachers - Mr. Rick Cammarata, Ms. Natalya Kljajic, Ms. Felicia Lahart, and Ms. Melissa Lloyd - for organizing this wonderful, celebratory event!
On Wednesday, April 26th, Maine West Fine Arts teacher, Ms. Rebecca Orr, received recognition for her extraordinary work incorporating career connections and experiences in her Broadcasting curriculum and programming.
Specifically, Ms. Orr was recognized for the Media Career Day she organized in October, which involved a panel of media professionals and a trip to Noise Floor studios. Read more about the Media Career Day HERE.
Mr. Dan Kolen, Coordinator of Digital Media for District 207, created a wonderful video capturing the tremendous work of Ms. Orr.

Nikhil Nair's film, "How to Make a 'Dum' Good Biriyani," placed 3rd in the festival!
On Saturday, April 15, Maine West film students, along with their teacher Ms. Rebecca Orr, attended the 16th Annual Screen Test Student Fest, an international screen test featuring the best short films created by high school filmmakers.
Two Maine West students, Ash Carmichael and Nikhil Nair, had films selected for the festival.
Nikhil ended up placing 3rd at the festival!

Tonight was opening night of the mysterious spring play, Trap! You do NOT want to miss this thriller of a show! It is a mysterious, documentary-style play that brings to life the terrifying events that occurred in February of 2022. Using information obtained from primary sources, the actors will recreate interviews with witnesses, loved ones, first responders, and the professionals investigating the case. As the horrifying details of the story are woven together, the audience will be lured into a dangerous web.
