On Thursday, February 27th, members of the Maine West Orchestra program performed a concert of Chamber Music for family and friends. The program featured a diverse repertoire, all selected by students. Congratulations to all of the student performers and their director, Ms. Daniella Valdez!
What an unforgettable evening at Dimensions 2024: Perspectives! Our students from band, choir, orchestra, and music production delivered performances that showcased their hard work, creativity, and passion.
The theme of "Perspectives" came to life through their artistry, reminding us how music can open our minds to new ways of seeing and experiencing the world. From intricate harmonies to innovative compositions, every note reflected their dedication and collaboration. Students delivered powerful speeches that deeply connected to the theme, offering the audience meaningful perspectives to reflect on and inspiring new ways of thinking!
Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate these talented students. Their success is a testament to the power of the arts to inspire, connect, and transform. Bravo to all who performed—you’ve made your school and community proud!
On Tuesday, October 22nd, Maine West had the pleasure of hosting over 130 area middle school orchestra students and their directors from Chippewa, Algonquin and Iroquois for the annual Des Plaines Orchestra Festival.
During the school day, students participated in rehearsals and workshops, with a special highlight being our guest clinician, Dr. Diego Piedra, the conductor of the Valparaiso University Orchestra.
The evening concert allowed each separate ensemble to shine in the spotlight with a piece or two performed independently, and then culminated with a mega-orchestra performance with all students performing Mechanical Monsters by Randall Standridge.
Thank you to all of the students and families for coming to West to participate in this very special community event!
Thank you to directors Kristin Vaziri, Dion Morales, Dominique Radtke and Daniella Valdez for organizing the events!

Tonight at the Orchestra Informance, students in the Maine West String Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra demonstrated what it is like to rehearse and play in an orchestra for family members sitting nearby within the ensemble.
Well done, everyone! We can't wait to hear the pieces you played at the concert in October!
Thank you to all of the families who came out tonight, and to Ms. Daniella Valdez for organizing the event!
Tonight, music students, teachers and their families celebrated a year of achievement in the band, choir and orchestra programs at the 2024 Music Awards Celebration. The night was filled with acknowledgments of exceptional leadership, musicianship and spirit in the music program. Especially poignant were the speeches by the students, all of which spoke to what the music program means to them, and why it is such an important part of their lives. Perspectives from freshmen through seniors were shared, and it was evident that - no matter where a student is on their journey - their experience in the music program is a significant part of making them who they are and helping them to achieve their goals.
Enjoy the speech given by Addison Stutheit below:
Congratulations to all of the music students on a wonderful year in the music programs at West!
