Media Career Day Was a HIT! #207Now #mediaarts @wmth_west @mainewestccrc @mainewestfab @noisefloor_ltd

On Saturday, October 22, Ms. Orr sponsored a Media Career Day for all interested students at Maine West. Almost 50 students attended this wonderful career opportunity!

Students began the day with a speaker panel led by senior, Abby Wilson. We heard from Isabel Lugo, a radio personality with Shine FM, Michael Norman, a producer from Marquee Sports, and Mallory Winker, a video game podcast editor with Pipeline.

Students then traveled to Noisefloor in River North where they got to tour their production studios. Students got to see the recording booths and foley studios! Students watched a sit down interview led by Ash Carmichael with one of the owners, Jamie Vanadia. The cut of the interview should be done in December- stay tuned!

More pictures from this event can be found HERE.

Thank you to Ms. Orr for organizing this wonderful event for students! Thanks to Ms. Lugo, Mr. Norman, Ms. Winker and the wonderful folks at Noisefloor for sharing your time and talents with the students of Maine West!

The Marching Warriors Fall Showcase: An Inspiring Performance Celebrating a Successful Season #207Now #marchingwarriors #marchingband @mainewestband @mainewestfab @mwhs207

Congratulations to the members of the Marching Warriors on their inspiring performance at the Fall Showcase! The band performed the entirety of this year's show, Mythos, in addition to all of the rock charts they play in the stands and, of course, the Warrior Fight Song.
A special tribute was given to Joel Daube, who tragically lost his life in 2020. He would have been a graduating senior in the percussion section this year. A snare was placed on the stage to signify his presence in the memories of many band members.
Thanks to the varsity football team and their coach, Mr. Klupchak, for coming to the concert to show support for the band! Your presence was noticed and very much appreciated!
Well done to tonight's honorary guest conductor, Maestro Blau...
...and to Mr. G and the rest of the band staff: Mr. Bonslater, Mr. Kent, Mr. Kraus and Ms. Stricker!
Thanks to the volunteers with the Maine West Fine Arts Boosters for all of your help at tonight's event!

Maine West Musicians Selected for 2022 Regional Honors Ensembles #207Now #Honors #ILMEA @mainewestband @mainewestchoir @mworchestras @mwhs207

Congratulations to the student musicians from Maine West High School who earned placement, by competitive audition, into the 2022 Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) All-District Band, Choir and Orchestra. These musicians submitted audition videos to the ILMEA, which were reviewed and scored by a panel of professional musicians. The scores were then ranked, and the top scoring musicians were selected for participation in the District 7 ILMEA Festival, which will be held on Saturday, November 12 at New Trier Township High School.

Selection to the ILMEA district honors ensembles distinguishes these musicians as some of the best musicians in the region. It is also the result of many hours of practice on the extremely challenging audition material. The Fine Arts Department is extremely proud of these musicians.

We are proud to announce this year's group of musicians who earned placement into the District 7 ILMEA Honors Ensembles:

BAND:
Aurelia Lawson, Flute

CHOIR:
Olga Stewart, Soprano II
Addison Stutheit, Alto I

ORCHESTRA:
