Maine West welcomed students from Chippewa, Algonquin and Iroquois Middle Schools, as well as students who attend area private schools to the first of their series of four art workshops yesterday. Yesterday's workshop, led by Maine West art teacher Ms. Felicia Lahart, focused on ceramics. The students created pinch pots with interesting bases and textures.
There will be three additional Middle School Art Workshops in our beautiful new Art Suite in C Wing! We invite all middle school students to attend the dates ahead:

Congratulations to the members of the Marching Warriors on their inspiring performance at the Fall Showcase! The band performed the entirety of this year's show, Mythos, in addition to all of the rock charts they play in the stands and, of course, the Warrior Fight Song.
A special tribute was given to Joel Daube, who tragically lost his life in 2020. He would have been a graduating senior in the percussion section this year. A snare was placed on the stage to signify his presence in the memories of many band members.
Thanks to the varsity football team and their coach, Mr. Klupchak, for coming to the concert to show support for the band! Your presence was noticed and very much appreciated!
Well done to tonight's honorary guest conductor, Maestro Blau...
...and to Mr. G and the rest of the band staff: Mr. Bonslater, Mr. Kent, Mr. Kraus and Ms. Stricker!
Congratulationsto the student musicians fromMaine West High Schoolwho earned placement, by competitive audition, into the2022 Illinois Music Education Association(ILMEA) All-District Band, Choir and Orchestra. These musicians submitted audition videos to the ILMEA, which were reviewed and scored by a panel of professional musicians. The scores were then ranked, and the top scoring musicians were selected for participation in the District 7 ILMEA Festival, which will be held on Saturday, November 12 at New Trier Township High School.
Selection to the ILMEA district honors ensembles distinguishes these musicians as some of the best musicians in the region. It is also the result of many hours of practice on the extremely challenging audition material. The Fine Arts Department is extremely proud of these musicians.
We are proud to announce this year's group of musicians who earned placement into the District 7 ILMEA Honors Ensembles:
Come out to see the Marching Warriors perform their marching band show INDOORS! The concert will feature their show, Mythos, in addition to all of your favorite spirit songs and drumline cadences!
