Maine West Musicians Selected for 2022 Regional Honors Ensembles #207Now #Honors #ILMEA @mainewestband @mainewestchoir @mworchestras @mwhs207

Congratulations to the student musicians from Maine West High School who earned placement, by competitive audition, into the 2022 Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) All-District Band, Choir and Orchestra. These musicians submitted audition videos to the ILMEA, which were reviewed and scored by a panel of professional musicians. The scores were then ranked, and the top scoring musicians were selected for participation in the District 7 ILMEA Festival, which will be held on Saturday, November 12 at New Trier Township High School.

Selection to the ILMEA district honors ensembles distinguishes these musicians as some of the best musicians in the region. It is also the result of many hours of practice on the extremely challenging audition material. The Fine Arts Department is extremely proud of these musicians.

We are proud to announce this year's group of musicians who earned placement into the District 7 ILMEA Honors Ensembles:

BAND:
Aurelia Lawson, Flute

CHOIR:
Olga Stewart, Soprano II
Addison Stutheit, Alto I

ORCHESTRA:

Maine West Welcomes District 62 Band Students to Marching Band Night! #207Now #62Learns #band #marchingband #musiceducation @mainewestband @mainewestfab @62schools

Students from three District 62 Middle Schools - Chippewa, Algonquin and Iroquois - were guests of the Maine West Marching Band tonight at the annual D62/MW Marching Band Night. High School band students led District 62 students in sectional rehearsals, and then both groups combined for a dress rehearsal.

In tonight's concert, the Marching Warriors performed their show, Mythos, for an audience of largely middle school students and their parents, and the legendary Warrior Drum Line performed their standard hits. The District 62 and Maine West students then combined forces performing together on Blinding Lights by the Weeknd and, of course, the Maine West Fight Song!

Thanks to Mr. Bernie Gerstmayr, Maine West Band Director, and the three District 62 Middle School Band Directors - Brian Gavilan (Chippewa), Sarah Todd (Iroquois) and Missy Legutki (Algonquin) - for all of your work to make tonight's wonderful collaboration happen.

We are looking forward to welcoming the #futurewarriors to Maine West!

Thanks to the many parents who volunteered with the Maine West Fine Arts Boosters tonight to help make tonight's event happen! District 62 parents, we welcome you to join our team of volunteers and supporters in the Maine West Fine Arts Boosters!
