We recently learned that several Maine West students are receiving recognition for their work in our Media Arts film and TV program!
Several Maine West film students have received National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) award nominations. These are also considered "Student Emmy Awards," and distinguish these students as some of the best student filmmakers in the Midwest. In order to be nominated, these students' projects placed them in the top 2-5 projects in the submission category.
The students will learn whether or not their project win the category at the upcoming Midwest Media Education Association Film Festival on April 26th. Student Emmy winners receive a crystal pillar and will be invited to the NATAS Silver Circle Dinner on May 3rd to be presented the award. They will also be eligible to move on to compete nationally.

The Silver Circle Dinner honors exemplary work in the television industry for people with 25 years or more of experience. Roz Varon, a Maine East graduate, was one of the honorees. Students of the television arts also receive awards for exemplary work. HEREare all recipients of this year's student production awards.

Maine West student, Brooke Capper, received a Crystal Pillar Award for her news package, The Hope Wallin the category of light news at the NATAS Silver Circle Dinner on Friday, May 13, 2022. This is the high school equivalent of earning an Emmy Award. We are so very proud of Brooke!
Students in Maine West's broadcasting program distinguished themselves as some of the best student broadcasters and filmmakers in the region by earning a number of awards at the Midwest Media Educators' Association (MMEA) Festival on Friday, April 29, 2022! Congratulations to all of the students on your incredible achievements! We are so proud of you!

Five Maine West student filmmakers had works nominated by the Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) for Crystal Pillar Awards in four categories of filmmaking. This distinguishes these students' projects among the top 3 or 4 films in each category in the region.
The NATAS organization sponsors the Emmy Awards, and similar to the Emmy Awards, after being nominated, the next step will be for the NATAS to announce winners in each category. Winners are invited to attend the Silver Circle Dinner on May 13th to receive the Crystal Pillar Award. Winners will be announced at the Midwest Media Educators Association (MMEA) Festival on April 29th.
